NEW DUNE MINIATURES

I am pretty much done with collecting DUNE Miniatures... but some new models are coming and they look great! The new Cadian Shock Troops are back – with a vengeance. I probably need some of these for my Atreides Army.

Then there are the CMON Dune: War for Arrakis figures which are nice as well.

COLLECTION DIARY: AUGUST 2021

I started featuring DUNE in my Collection Diaries this June. This goes hand and hand with my DUNE Summer Storm project. I have been building up all of my DUNE Factions for the last year and now I am all about making this project rock. I am going to post the collection in alphabetical order. Thus June featured the honorable HOUSE ATREIDES and the enigmatic BENE GESSERIT. I combined these factions because of their direct connections with each other. July featured the glorious and terrible HOUSE CORRINO! 

 

🤗 Now it's time for the mighty FREMEN and the diabolical HOUSE HARKONNEN! ☯

I am including this Sardaukar collection because these are the troopers that I will most often attach to the Harkonnen. The Fremen have several bits from PuppetsWar too: shown in last month's diary.

BOSS SHOP: DUNE - SNAP SHIPS RIGHT OUT OF (AND BACK INTO) DUNE!

I am so pleased with this toy range. The fact that I can build so many DUNE craft with the kits I own make me very excited! As of this month I have all of the kits I need to build several models including everything pictured in this article. I have had a few negative comments on this approach, but that only gives me a case of the giggles. I am not trying to be a historical frumpstire on a DUNE Facebook group. For me DUNE is glorious... not boring. If you think these wonderful SNAP SHIPS toys do not FIT RIGHT INTO DUNE... you do not know DUNE as well as I do. I have researched this universe from it's beginnings right up to the new 2020 film designs. I have seen over a dozen versions of Carryalls (& Groundcars) and over a hundred varieties of Ornithopters. I have chosen these excellent little models because they all have many of the design elements from actual DUNE art and other DUNE media that I love.

 See how nice PAUL'S Ornithopter from The Road to Dune looks like it belongs with the cool Snap Ships designs? YAH! This is all coming together just great and it is FUN! 😎

SNAP SHIPS AND MY DUNE GAME... SO FUN AND COOL!

The Snap Ships Wave One are wonderful kits. I love them. The versatility and general coolness you can make happen with these toy-models is just FUN! If you know DUNE and the huge amount of concept art that is directly related to the universe; then you can see it here.

NEW FREMEN ASSUALT TROOPERS! (House Van Saar Reveal)

I am very happy to report that our newly deployed HARKONNEN Assault Troopers will soon have NEW Fremen to SLAUGHTER! Be advised: all deep desert troopers should be watchful for these Fremen Scum as they employ new Atreides equipment! We shall of course stop their vain attempts to undermine Harkonnen domination!

BOSS SHOP: DUNE - FREMEN - PROJECT OVERVIEW

I love The FREMEN! These serious heros are in the top three of my Sci-Fi Good Guys fan-book! HOUSE HARKONNEN is the most hated Evil Faction in the entire DUNE Universe. It is the glory of The DUNE Universe that presents us with one of the best balancings of the karmic scale with the mighty FREMEN! In these wonderful Dune stories we get an equally awesome group of badass true heroes to oppose true evil! The Jedi (who come from The Fremen and The Weirding Way) are close in coolness but the Fremen are more believable in my view. I LOVE THEM! They are inspiring to me, and many others, from what I know of the fandom. It is important to me to make these wonderful everyman icons awesome in my DUNE Miniatures Game!

Ole hippy activist Frank described almost nothing in his sleepy novels. I call it Dune-fog-vision. Cool things are happening but feel free to imagine just about anything visually. A happy consequence of Frank's vague space drama narrative is that we get to see a million versions of The DUNE Universe!

In the decades past the DUNE novels first publication DUNE has been wonderfully illustrated! These modern artist did what Frank could-would not do. I have found much to ponder and enjoy while researching! You can barely find art that is consistent in design, but some of it is similar in the basic vision of the concept. Look up any character or the beloved worms; you will find great variation, and I like it, because much of it is well done.

The Dune-fog-vision has made it easy for me to use the models and miniatures that I like and that look the way I want them to look. I am happy to report that I have found great models that matchup with what I see when reading the wonderful DUNE Novels. With GW being inspired by Classic Sci-Fi properties like DUNE and the wild selection available on Etsy this new adventure has been a lot of fun.

 

When you search around for Sandworms or 'thopters you will find over a hundred designs... no really you will. I love the more modern hard-mean look so of course I will be purchasing several GW FTOL APC's and other fun models!

As I planned my DUNE Miniatures Game I did a lot of NEW Research since I recently started reading the Brian Herbert main storyline Dune Universe Prequel Novels. I looked at what other DUNE enthusiast have done with scratch and limited release/converted miniatures and models too!
