COLLECTION DIARY: SEPTEMBER 2020

I have added a number of Funkos to my BATTLESTAR BERSERK Game in recent months. I waited to publish another Collection Diary for this game collection until I had enough toys to make another full wave of Colonials and Cylons. 

I like to window-shop at Amazon and find cute Pops that fit my crazy game and buy one here or three there. Now this month I can present a nice rounded set for the main factions as well as allied Mercs and some cool monsters too. YES The Berserker-Cylons use Tech Dragaons in Battlestar Berserk... because as I have said in early articles about this game the universe is based on Saberhagen's Berserkers as much as it is BSG. I will go into more detail about these fun Murder-Robot-Monsters and Dat Crazy Colonial Tank later...

 I also got some more Boss Shop tech and storage, because I always need to keep improving my gear and increasing storage for my wonderful toys!

COLLECTION DIARY: JUNE 2019

I have had my eye on some more Special Colonial characters and the models I wanted fell to a nice friendly price on Amazon this month so I grabbed them up. I can now make most of my BSB Colonial Hero POPS!

I had my eye on some more Special Cylon characters, and was able to get the POPS! for them this month too. The Classic and New Cylon Centurions are going to be upgraded leader types. I have had a few people ask me why I am getting know character POPS! to use as BSG POPS! The answer is easy and funny (too me). I know The Galactica Universe very very well, and when I see a figure like Cayde-6 for example I do not see that video game persona... no what I see is a modernized version of the classic Cylon Citizen. So Cayde-6 joins the party... real easy!

These goodies are the newer Technical Terrain pieces I purchased this month specifically for my Battlestar Berserk Terrain projects, starting with a cool Cylon Base. I have plenty of other cool stuff already of course, to build things up, but this stuff is going to work great just for my Beloved BSG POPS!

BOSS' BATTLESTAR BERSERK - PROJECT OVERVIEW & PREVIEW FIVE

In Preview Two I shared the first of my Colonial POPS! designs for BSB! I have finished the next three Special Characters in recent weeks... and they are kinda very nice. I am pretty sure I can make these as actual models with little or no difficulty.

I am having a lot of fun making these little concept images! The entire project has been fun in fact.

BOSS' BATTLESTAR BERSERK - PROJECT OVERVIEW & PREVIEW THREE

I have loved Fred Saberhagen's BERSERKER SAGA for most of my life and also enjoy it's most popular spin-off franchises: Battlestar Galactica (OLD & NEW) and The Terminator. I decided to make my own Sci-Fi Skirmish game after I began happily collecting Ares BSG SSB Game in late 2018! I am very focused on making BATTLESTAR BERSERK a crazy fun combination of the best elements from these three cool universes! 

Basically I am making a Battlestar Skirmish Game infused with Berserker and Terminator elements to provide a huge amount of diversity that was not possible in the shows and films for practical narrative and financial reasons. I am not constrained by these factors so I can go crazy and make a badass game with everything that I love innit... Babes!

I started this fun little project this year in January. Since then I have had all kinds of fun talking with my friends online as we discussed the merits of several POPS! I have found that the older Funkos look kinda silly, with bowed legs and less detailed sculpting. I have selected the nicer looking modern POPS! where possible for this project. 

All of the human figures I have purchased have good anatomy and technical detail and fit the look of The Battlestar Berserk Universe very nicely indeed.

The Mecha and Robots in general are exempt from the Nicer Looking Modern Funkos standard, because they are machines... and they look great old or new. I rather like the cute little bow-leggedness of the Cylons and similar Mech-POPS! If the machines looked as lithe as the humans it would not feel right to me.

The ideas I have for my Cylon Berserkers are just fun... mean... and very cute!

Now you know I have to build a badass Cylon Berserker Tank too! (Jim stole Fred's murderous time traveling machines ideas... so I am going to steal his Terminator Tanks!)

BOSS' BATTLESTAR BERSERK - PROJECT OVERVIEW & PREVIEW TWO

In Preview One I talked about the Colonial Funkos in general. In tonight's article I am going to share a bit more detail on what I am doing to actually make the Pop models into Battlestar Berserk models!

Most of the great Sci-Fi Universes we know and love are character driven. The stories are made with a rich and wonderful verity of heroes and villains! In worthy Sci-Fi we can all find a few personalities to love or hate. I think that Battlestar Galactica has the most verity on offer of any popular series. We get to know every important member of the crew in both the Colonial and Cylon fleets in the series! Star Trek is the obvious equal to BSG in this regard, coming in strong with even more characters, but it has way more volume too. IMO The Original BSG and The Reimagined BSG have made  almost as great a mark on Sci-Fi with it's five televised seasons and a handful of films (I am of course including Razor and Blood & Chrome as films). That about covers my feelings on BSG goodness. I am taking this fun project of mine seriously.

I am going to make all of my Heroes and Villains... wonderful.  I many cases I am going to have to cut parts from two or three Pops to make one great Battlestar Berserk Pop. This is how you convert something into what you want it to be, and because I am building special one of a kind figures I can murder (LOL) a few fun little Funkos... and love it!

COLLECTION DIARY: MARCH 2019

I purchased the main forces for my BATTLESTAR BERSERK Game for my February Diary! This month I added a few more characters for Colonial and Cylon forces, and finished up squads for my Colonial Templars and Warriors. I added new troop types to the game this month: Mecha Troopers for the Colonials, and Berserkers for the Cylons! Mecha Troopers and Berserkers drive the vehicles and use heavy gear and weapons for their respective factions.

COLLECTION DIARY: FEBRUARY 2019

This month I got busy finding the best models for BATTLESTAR BERSERK and started building the actual armies. I now have the models to play some cool characters: leading squads of troops, with special upgrades, for the Colonials and Cylons. I can play some fun games now and test the rules pretty darn good like!
