BOSS' BIG STAR TREK: NEW BOSS EMOTES PART 5

This NEW series is a spinoff of NEW FIGHTERS & SHUTTLES PART 1

This little series is about The EMOTES. As many of my B6*R7 Fliers know I like to make Emotes for my own enjoyment and to use as icons to represent my Starship Collections. In the past several years I have made hundreds for STAR WARS and less than that for STAR TREK. I am in the mood again to make more of my little Starship Cartoons, and I am going to get Boss' BIG Star Trek up to date with my actual vast collection.

The next best "goodguys" in STAR TREK... Continue your long and prosperous lives Vulcans!

I have always loved DS9 and it's featured classic (& NEW) ships! This was the time when we got the first REAL WAR Stories of STAR TREK! I like the fact that DS9 influenced The Enterprise series even more. I did not love ENTERPRISE but I sure loved the best parts of it. The Vulcan and Andorian stories and the frequent DS9'ish battles made the show watchable for me, and I loved all of that goodness. Shran and Soval are both in my top twenty list of all time favorite STAR TREK characters!

More Boss TREK EMOTES coming soon...

COLLECTION DIARY: MAY 2022

I am getting all of my BLOVED STAR TREK FLEETS updated this year.

I have finally researched the STOL ships and discovered that many of them are actually in scale for my BBA Models Collection. I am (of course) now getting these newer badass  models now because they are just wonderful.

COLLECTION DIARY: JULY 2019

I have not posted a STAR TREK Collection Diary in a while... it is fun to be back into buying the new models and some of the old ones I ignored back in the day. I have had the Enterprise E as a 1/2500 model kit for years, To be honest it is a fragile flimsy thing and I never felt good about putting the effort into building the thing only to easily break it while playing games.
I can finally add the Sovereign Class to my BIG Games as the Eaglemoss XL Edition is in perfect 1/2500 scale and it is a very sturdy model! I got the wacky Discovery Vulcan Cruiser because it is a cool ship (despite the show) and my beloved Vulcans NEEDED a nice new ship added to their fleet!
I always thought the Titan was out of scale... Oops, but it turns out that while it is like a Sovereign Class, it is actually about the size of a Constitution Class! Learning this about Titan as I looked at Eaglemoss models again in recent months... I knew I had to finally buy this cool ship!

I am back my Fellow Trekkers!

BOSS' BIG STAW: SHAPEWAYS SMALL TREK SHIPS!

There are a number of cool small ships in the TREK Universe that I have always liked and wanted to have in my BBA STAW Games! There are also a number of designs that got officially made, but never actually made it to the shows or films. I recently remembered that I love classic STAR TREK, with the NEW Eaglemoss Models released in the past year, and the goodies yet to come out in 2019! This infusion of new excitement has effected Wizzies too as they are releasing a lot of their crazy STAW: Faction Fleet Packs!

My way to celebrate The TREK Coolness recently has been to look at older ship designs again, to triple check their relative scales. I have found that there are a number of Eaglemoss ships that I overlooked that are actually in scale our BIG Approved Fleets. I will talk more about this in my next STAW Eaglemoss article.

This week I have had a lot of fun hunting down some very special story driving gameable Cool Small Star Trek Ships. All of these ships can be used in Hide & Seek, Capture-Rescue, and Kill-Save The Commander scenarios! Check these badass babies out gang!

There are all kinds of STAW Goodies offered by Armadillo Miniatures.

Excited (Again) TREK Boss out!

COLLECTION DIARY: JULY 2015

I made it another STAR TREK Month... and it was fun too!

I finally got that damn glorious 1/2500 scale Klingon Vor'cha! I had all kinds of X-Wing goodies to buy many times when this baby was in stock. Then when I was thinking about what to get next for my BBA STAW toys the damn thing would be out of stock. Kinda funny... I have her now and it is a fine model!
I continued to run a muck and got two of the pricey newer OP STAW ships. I added the very nice K'vort Class Pagh to the fleet as well. The Dominion was upgraded with a second Jem'Hadar Escort Cruiser and another 1/2500 scale model in the excellent Delta Quadrant Models Breen Cruiser. This one was on my radar for about a year, and it just got re-released a few months ago.
I plan to have a good little Vulcan force for my Federation Allies and so I wanted to make one of them a better than average ship with the OP Tal'Kir! The little Eldar gun bits are part of a crazy idea I have for my Species 8472 fleet.

I had to grab up a few more of these wonderful Iris Cases this month too for all of my new space babies to sleep in... lol... and I figured I might as well get a decent tripod while I was prowling on Amazon.

It was a fun collecting month. Getting two of the important Klingon and Dominion ships rocks!

Trekking Boss out.

COLLECTION DIARY: JUNE 2015

This month I was able to get a few of the thus far elusive main Ships of The Line for BBA STAW, and the core fighters for X-Wing. I even got a couple of cute little star fighter expansions for Armada too!

I have all of the main fighters up to the six to ten mark now, for my X-Wing EPIC collection. Dat EPIC Glory, it is just to much fun... my wonderful Star Babies!
I have been putting Armada off until Wave II hits, but when I noticed that the new Fighter Expansions have been selling fast, I decided I better at least grab a set of each. They are very cool I think, and I can certainly see why people are buying them up!  I will be making it a STAR WARS ARMADA X-MAS.

These Eaglemoss ships are of course in scale for BBA STAW and they are all just about awesome. I have been kinda waiting for them to get released and all be in stock at Entertainment Earth. This month that happened, so I grabbed up four and saved on the shipping cost. It is always fun to get free shipping.

Happy Star Wars Trekking Boss out!

BOSS' BIG ATTACK WING PROJECT PART FIVE: UPDATING THE MODEL COLLECTION...SIZE STILL MATTERS!!!

It has been seven months since I made the closing post of my Spring Series. New models have been made and several of them are now available to us, with more coming soon. It is time for an update to this ongoing project!

Boss' BIG Attack Wing FALL Update!

The Borg have been the most difficult faction to bring into the BBA Scale. Now that I have done some more research, and Wiz Kids has announced their forthcoming Over-sized Cube Expansion, the Borg fit right into the damn-close and good enough for games category.

At the time of writing my Spring series, I had not watched STAR TREK DS9 and Voyager in years, but since I reopened my Netflix account again, I have watched the entirety of both series. There are some awesome episode in that 14 seasons of Trek-goodness.

The Borg Cubes changed in size often during the Voyager series. We all know that. I am chilling on the whole scale thing, with certain models, because I have the images from the shows fresh in mind again, and this is all supposed to be fun. For the most part all of the important ships are available in 1/2500 scale, as for the rest; the tiny and the huge ships... I am willing to let it go now and just enjoy my cool toys in the game.

Believe it or not this cool version of Deep Space Nine is very accurate and close to the right scale concerning small ships like the Klingon BOP and Jimmie BUG. I am adding this DS9 to my collection because I like it of course, and the little ships are in scale with it. Since most of my BBA models are in scale with the little ships it will all work together well enough.

Is the new DS9 Expansion perfect, or even mathematically accurate to scale with other 1/2500 models then?
Nope... but it will look close to right, and that is good enough at this point.
Like I said above, I have re-watched DS9 and that station and all of the ships around it changed size about a million times in seven seasons.

Go figure... I did, and I am cool with it all now. It will be a lot of fun to battle around with these wonderful models.

The Cadet Series has a new boxed set due to hit stores this month. The Cardassian Galor is the star of this show in my opinion. The Saratoga is an older model that is newly released, while the Defiant is the same model that came with the DS9 kit. In this set the Defiant is molded in gray rather than clear. This set is priced at $23 and if you want to own multiples of the trio, it is a nice option for building fleets. The only other good Galors are priced at $20 to $40 each.

In my opinion the Federation Models version of the Galor is still the best model of the ship. I have two of the Galor/Keldon kits coming to me this week, with some other goodies. The Cadet set is due in later this month. I will compare the Federation Galor with the AMT Galor, and share my findings with you later. I want a large Cardassian-Dominion Fleet, so I have to decide what to do. I may go crazy and buy three more of the $40 FED sets, or be cheap (Ha, Ha!) and get five of the $20 AMT sets. Dunno yet...

The Defiant was less of a challenge to buy on the other hand as there are plenty of nice versions out there already and five of them are in BBA Scale... Ha, Ha!

Eaglemoss has been keeping busy since my last article too. You can visit their archive page to see the ships that are available now or soon will be. You will notice that some of the Enterprise series ships are coming, namely the Klingon Early BOP, and a wonderful Andorian Cruiser. Both of these models are in BBA Scale, but are not a part of STAW yet. I will leave it to you to decide if you want to pursue them. I am going to, because it is just cool in my view to build a collection for that era.
Below you can see the nice big Eaglemoss ships that are in Attack Wing. You might need to own them...

The Eaglemoss Stargazer is beautiful and newly available this month. She is worth $25 in my view. It is going to be a fun ship to have in games, to be sure! I find it very amusing that random chaos decided to make the STAW and Eaglemoss versions of this ship became available in the US at the same time!

The Eaglemoss version of the Surak is also very nice and right on the $$$. The scheduled release date is January.

Eaglemoss is gearing up to release several cool new models in the next six months that fit very nicely into our BBA Scaled collection.

The Eaglemoss version of Bioship Alpha is a bit large, but that is fine because my research indicates that there are two types of this design, as well as the planet killer ship. The standard Bioships are the small versions that are accidentally in scale as released by Wiz. The larger combat ship is almost three times the size. This is the bigger ship that was in some of the Voyager episodes.
The current model in STAW is the smaller version that was in all of the Species episodes. The forthcoming Eaglemoss version is perfect to represent the larger craft. You can have fun with this by naming them as you like; Bio Alpha, Beta, and so forth.

It would not be hard to convert the Planet Destroyer ship from this larger Bioship model.

The Andorian Cruiser will count as a new Boss' BIG Approved addition to the game. There is no indication as of this article that Wizzie is going to bring Andorians into STAW, but I am most certainly going to include them and their cool ships!

The Eaglemoss ships I have discussed in this article are available now or scheduled for release this Winter and next Spring. This timeline is fine because many of the ships will not be officially in Attack Wing until then either.

More to come...

PART FOUR: THRIFTY COLLECTING...WALKING THE TALKING!

FALL UPDATE 2015

COLLECTION DIARY: MAY 2014

This was a cool month for my Boss' BIG Approved STAW Collection. I found many of the choice large models I have been wanting since I began my BBA project, particularly Klingon and Romulan ships, at a reasonable price.

 Federation & Allies

I picked up some additional ships that I already have, like the Defiant and Excelsior classes. My Federation Allies have another Vulcan Cruiser, which is always nice to see IMO. The Bajorans also got a trio of new battle barges...Go little Miss Kira...Ha, Ha! I needed more than one of these babies for larger games...of course.

The new Federation lovely this month is that Boba Fett of a ship!
The background filling, often blown to bits, always hard to find in 1/2500 scale, and rarely in stock: the glorious Akira!

This is the first Eaglemoss ship I have in my collection. It is funny that it took me so long to get any of these fine models in the new series from this company. The ships that I want have been either ridiculously expensive or out of stock everywhere I have looked since February. I started the BBA project partly because of these models...now I finally have two of them, and there are more that fit our BBA scale coming!

 Klingon

The wonderful Klingon Battle Cruiser ornaments have been out of stock for a while, even at Hallmark's site. They have been going for about $65 on average on eBay. I found a pair of them, which covers this awesome ship for my collection, for less than $80 delivered...I am happy. I also got a reasonable price on the infamous Elite Attack Di, and that even more elusive B'rel BOP ship card.

Romulan

I was bad this month.
I was greedy and insane.
I bought not just a second, but a second and third Warbird... Ahh!
Do I need three of these huge models, even on a nice 4x6' table?!
YES!
When I find these classics in NIB and NM condition for only $50 delivered for the wonderful pair of them!
I should be ashamed of myself...but I ain't!

I do believe I have Klingon Battle Cruisers and Romulan Warbirds covered...now!

Dominion

The second Eaglemoss ship in my collection is the awesome Battle Cruiser. This model is not in scale, for our BBA upgrade, but I got it anyway because I want to make some alternate ships to use for the faction.
I am absolutely buying the excellent Federation Models resin version of this ship, which is in scale. This neat little version is going to be as cool a model I think, once I get it converted into a Light Battle Cruiser.
For my games this is just as valid IMO as using the large and small BOP's for the Klingons, as different classes of similarly designed craft.
I got a trio of the lovable Attack Ships too...because I need ten... at least ten!

Borg

I got a second Death Star to convert into a Borg Sphere. This is a great looking model, and the perfect starting point for a Borg styled ship. I am going to finish the Destroyer Cube first before I start this one.  I think the Sphere will be a lot of fun, with less work involved and about as much reward after the build is completed.

Other Assimilated Ships are on my list too, and these odd (to my collection) models will work fine for conversions. I already have my Warbirds, and plan to use the cute Warbird in the Adversaries set to make a Romulan Kerchan. My Klingon BOPs are covered also with my diecast ships, and so on. I purchased these models solely for future conversion projects.

An Assimilated BOP is a must have item.

Now that I have focused four months of my resources on Boss' BIG STAW Babies, I have enough models and rules stuff to have some real fun I think.

I still need to get more models of course, such as Dominion and Klingon large ships, but that can wait for a bit. Right now I want to continue work on the Borg and get my BBA Bases and some other things taken care of.
Also FFG has gone crazy and is finally releasing a lot of wonderful X-WING goodies...Ha, Ha!

Next month I am going to get back to work on my STAR WARS & X-WING Collection...

COLLECTION DIARY: MARCH 2014

This month I have pretty much rounded out my Federation Fleet, with the Hallmark ornaments versions of the TOS Film Era, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager models, and I have also got my Federation Allies started with a Vulcan Command Cruiser.

 Federation & Allies

I am going to get another of these cool ships and some other Vulcan craft, as well as one or two Andorian Cruisers, for Enterprise Era games, and as general Federation Fleet allied ships for larger battles. I decided that my Dominion War Battles will not be on DS9 but rather around it. The cool little Hallmark DS9 Ornament will work perfectly as a Background Element in my ATTACK WING games, in the same way that I am using my beloved Deathstar models in X-WING. The wonderful little Federation Peregrine Attack Fighters made it to EBay this month, and since I am slowly building up for the Dominion War, I had to get a three pack of these babies!

Klingon

Bringing up the rear guard this month...even more Klingons! Never count the Klingons out...it is not a wise decision, and now they have the Flagship Upgrade too, along with the other factions included in this set of course.

 Dominion

Last but not least is the meager start to my Jem'hadar Attack Ships, and a nice third squad of Cardassian Fighters to even the odds with the Peregrines.

Now (Ha, Ha!) for the icing on the cake this month: BOSS' BIG APPROVED STAW BASES...Yeah Baby! I need four or five more of these, but this is a good setup...for now.
