THE CHRONICLES OF JOE BOSS' TABLETOP ADVENTURES IN SPACE OPERA SCIENCE FICTION AND ELDRITCH HORROR MINIATURES WAR GAMING. I AM A LONG TIME SCALE MODELLER, THUS YOU CAN EXPECT FREQUENT ARTICLES ON RELATED HOBBY TOPICS AND COOL SCIENCE FICTION AND GOTHIC-ELDRITCH HORROR MODELING PROJECTS.
I was finally able to get the glorious CTHULHU WARS boxed game reprint this Autumn. This core set has been hard to find at a reasonable price, if you could find it at all, since I started my Eldritch Horror Collection last Halloween. I am very happy to have been able to buy it as soon as Onslaught Two became available!
I also purchased a few more hard to find goodies for my Land War Project as well as cool Terrain Goodies for STAR WARS: LEGION... YAH BAH-BEE! I have wanted to get these Imperial Walkers for a while now... funny how they all became available in time for My Favorite Holiday! 🎃 Happy Halloween Celebrating Boss out!
I have been haply buying some good Raw Terrain materials and badass Building Kits for my Eldritch Extreme Project to make the main locales in HPL's best stories. I am at the point now where I can get to building Complete Environments! Dunwich Villageis going to be first and the rest afterwards!
The classic old Plasticville model kits are better than you think... if you are willing to work on them. I am...
The General Dry Goods
In the story the dry goods is run in the main hall of the ruined church. The villagers basically removed the pews and put up shelves and a counter in the old building to run a small general store. In my setting it will be in the center of the village square.
The Old Cathedral
The combination dead church-active general store deal is fine in the story, but for my gaming I want to have an actual functioning church in my setting because there are some good people in the village. These rustic heroes need to have a place of refuge to gather when they have to plan actions against the horrid things that come down from the hills; out of the dark woods, and from the cold river.
The Rickety Covered Bridge
The first thing you see after noting the hills rising in the distance from out of the forest is this creepy old bridge. Once you cross it you know you are in the heart of Dunwich... beware and be soon gone! This simple terrain feature is going to be a lot of fun in my games. What may be waiting for you there; on, in, or under this dubious structure... especially when you are in haste?
The Moldering Farms Of Dunwich
The countryside of Dunwich is dotted with several ancient farms. These structures are a key point of action and often serve as shelters for things to monstrous to think of...
The Ancient Village
The buildings throughout Dunwich are bordering on relics rather than houses. I have decided to use The GW Hobbit Laketown houses (with modifications of course) to represent The Village properly. This is going to be a lot of fun work. I have not purchased these sets yet, and I still need to get a nice Windmill model too. The white building pictured below is how most of my Dunwich Houses will look.
This unabridged version of The Dunwich Horror is beyond great, it is a masterpiece in fact and one of the best Lovecraft audio plays that I know of... period. Check it out My Lovely Creeps!
Most of us are well informed on this expansion but I liked the new overview Fantasy Flight posted in their release article. Checkout the fun stuff in the When Crime Pays article! FFG did some good work on this Expansion!
FFG has just previewed The STAR WARS: LEGION Wave 1 Expansions... and just Wowzers! I knew it was going to be cool! All of this BAMF GLORY is coming to us in Q1 2018... so by this SPRING we will all be in it to win it!
Fantasy Flight has made some of the best games in the industry and I love that they are so committed to keeping things fun! For the most part FFG are doing very good work in my view.
Recently in the last few years FFG has introduced APPs for their Board Games. Mansions Of Madness 2nd Edition is the one that I can directly speak for as I own it. If you are not a serious Game Master-DM-Referee like myself; then these Apps are a cool new addition to pen & paper-board gaming. I feel that these hybrid games are fun and have a place in the biz.
Tim Gerritsen is one of the biggies involved in all of this coolness. Tim had a lot to do with FFG Games and now he is leading the heavy duty team involved in bringing us a number of Fantasy Flight Games properties as Video Games, according to today's PC GAMER article!
How do you guys and gals feel about getting some FFG Video Games in the coming years? Might be awesome!
Back in the day when I was active on the FFG X-WING Forums this ship was loved and hated by many people. It is funny to see just how well Fantasy Flight has made this ship. I think this is the Imperial version of the Rebel K-Wing in terms of what people think it is and what FFG has actualley made it to be in the game... kinda fun and funny too! Check the glory of the Sexy Star-Baby out in the Indiscriminate Devastation article.
This is another grade A ass kicking game changer of a ship with all kinds of neat options! You did great Fantasy Flight! FTSGecko is very happy, and so am I!
FFG previewed the NEW Investigators from the forthcoming The Streets Of Arkham Expansion. I like the cop and the mystic a lot. Go checkout the new hero goodies in the A Proper Introduction article... it's looking like we are in for some good fun!
These NEW models look pretty good. As you Creepers know I have been buying other game models to upgrade and replace many of the older craptastic FFG MOM Models... but these guys are going to be keepers I think. Keep on getting better FFG.
FUCK YOU IF YOU DON'T GAD-DAM-TT LOVE WONDERFUL GLORIOUS MAGNIFF-A-RIFFIC AUTUMN!
Now for the rest of we delighted CREEPS, it is time for great media and meals... YAH BA-BEE! Now fuck-uuu you don'e get to nibble on Boss' Dinner Plates, but I will share some badass... extra-wonderful films & music with you favored Black-boyz and Black-gurlz.
THE RETURN OF THE LIVING DEADis the legit sequel to Night Of The Living Dead that George was going to make, but rights issues and funding caused the film deal to be sold later. Dan O'Bannon directed this crazy gore-fest to perfection. This is the film that made Smart Talking, Deadly Running, and Brain Eating Zombies a reality... lol!
THIS IS MY FAVORITE ZOMBIE FILM!
THE CROWis one of my all time favorite films. The original story by James O'Barr is fantasized truth and the emotional context that I get from watching this (having read The Crow graphic novels) moves me every time. It is actually difficult for me to see the film often because of it's brutally realistic narrative, but I watch it every Autumn... and love it!
FRIGHT NIGHTis the best Vampire film of the 80's era. While The Lost Boys and other cool offerings had flash and some good scares, Fright Night had everything. The effects and action are still fun to see, and at the time they beat other films with ease. The story is classic. The characters are all well developed and hearken back to the Hammer Horror Era; even the lead characters names are a homage. Tom Holland obviously loves the material and that is yet another reason why I love this classic Horror Masterpiece!
AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDONis The Best Horror Comedy ever made. Like ROTLD this film surprised most people. The story is serious most of the time and it scares the hel out of you, and yet it makes you laugh at certain moments with jokes that feel good and right for the characters. The way John Landis gives us this breathing room before he amps the tension back up is such a polite way to tell this cool story and to then kill us with the award winning effects and bloody violence! This film is so dam-good!
NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD (1990) is the rare remake of a classic that made everything better. The effects, and acting, as well as the general presentation are all better than the original film. The best thing is that the content is given more weight and tells a better version of this important story. Fun, gory, and smart; this updated masterpiece is my second favorite Zombie film!
BRAM STOKER'S DRACULAis The Last Modern Gothic Masterpiece! Like The CROW this film is sometimes hard for me to watch. It moves me so much! I feel like the truths about being a good and worthy human are coming off the screen like a Spring Dew or Autumn Haze. Francis Coppola did everything right!
There you go My Beautiful Black Babies...
...and don't you dare partake of any of this glory on a fucking idiot box!
I have been annoyed by the SJW Gurl-Power Crap that has crept into STAR WARS. This new trailer indicates to me that KK got her head out of her own addenda and it feels like Mouse is chilling on that level of popular (to some) stupidity.
I think this is going to be a REAL STAR WARS Film my Star Brothers & Sisters, and I look forward to it very much. THIS LOOKS LIKE IT IS GOING TO BE A TRULY GREAT FILM!
If it does suck, well there are still the toys to love regardless...
I am working on several models for this project, more or less all at the same time. The first to get some actual work done on them are a fun couple. These monsters are based on FFG art (Arkham City) and my own idea for a Rural (Dunwich Farmer) concept.
